Framers

I was taking down the show from the Summer Mix exhibition through LACMA's photo arts council and saw some incredible framing...after inquiring further, here are 2 sources that do amazing work:

Absolute Framemakers (in Culver City, near National and Venice)
310-287-0700
8927 Ellis Avenue
Los Angeles CA 90034
Contact Pete or Jack
* Be sure to contact them before going there to make sure they will be there
* Custom-made and painted frames
* Pete is the younger man. I prefer dealing with him, as Jack seems a bit out of it, but I like Jack. He is nice and has good input for best framing, so ideally, I like to consult with both if I am evaluating framing options or doing something new.
* 5+ pieces will give you essentially half off of regular prices. You pay full price if you have fewer pieces.

Finishing Concepts
(large facility; capable of mounting in-house and all types of modern presentations)
3370 North San Fernando Road # 103

They are a large facility. Excellent, pristine work. Custom-made and painted frames. Mounting in-house. Will let you spray your prints if you want to spray them. They frame for David Hockney, Richard Misrach, Melanie Pullen, David Fokos. Discount on 8+ pieces. Expensive but great quality.

Finishing Concepts is an excellent resource. I've sent many people there and they have always come through with nothing but the highest quality work. True, it can get expensive, but then sometimes you really need to put your best foot forward with your presentations. Also, if you ever need to ship a large amount of work somewhere else, they can handle the crating, packing, and insurance as well.
